Set in the sleepy village of Beaulieu, the building is full of original features, such as beautiful dark beams, oak flooring, old brick fireplaces and paneled rooms, the feeling of authenticity you get when you’re inside is spine tingling.

This venue also has bright, fragrant and quintessential English gardens bursting with colour, infused with the scents of lavender and lemon verbena, the hotel grounds provides plenty of photographic opportunity. The Montagu Arms' guests have included everyone from General de Gaulle to Sherlock Holmes’ creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Designed in the classic style of Gertrude Jekyll – that means plenty of little paths, hidden corners and beautiful blooms – our garden is the perfect outdoor backdrop.

 

 

 

With our Head Chef in charge the only difficulty is in deciding just what to serve for your wedding breakfast – a sumptuous buffet featuring classic favourites or exciting new flavours and dishes? Or a full-blown sit-down with as many courses as you’d like to eat? Whatever you decide, our chef and Roux Scholar, Matt Tomkinson, will make sure it is made from the freshest and best local ingredients that the New Forest and his own kitchen garden can provide.

 

 

For inspiration, look no further than the English Rose itself. Think blush or soft, buttery yellows, pale pink and the gentlest of creams for spring and summer ceremonies. Or maybe the soft lavenders and sage greens of the English country garden. For winter and autumn weddings, you can take a steer from the English rose too; check out the ruby red, deep magentas and ice white hues of the more dramatic blooms.
