From the weather to the food, everything was perfect, and our day was better than we could have ever imagined. The whole team at the Montagu Arms was extremely helpful and friendly, and accommodated us from beginning till end. Everyone also loved the unexpected visit of two photogenic donkeys, who loved the fuss our families gave them!
We met during our first year of university, in 2018. Despite being on different courses, we kept running into each other, and fairly soon after meeting, we had our first date. After that, Lidi practically moved in to Scott’s tiny student Halls room.
We had been together for almost four years when Scott proposed in Greece. It was our first holiday we managed to go on together due to Covid. It was a complete surprise, and it made our holiday that extra bit more special.
We always knew we wanted an intimate wedding, and we have both always loved the New Forest Area. The Montagu Arms ticked all the boxes, in every aspect. After visiting the hotel and talking with Clara, our wedding coordinator, we had no doubt left in our minds that this was the perfect place for us.
I wanted a simple, but elegant wedding dress, without it being too plain. I found the perfect dress, which made me feel beautiful but also comfortable all day.
We managed to match the flowers with Scott’s tie, which complemented his blue suit perfectly.
We wanted a simple but elegant look for our wedding. We went with blush pink and white roses with gypsophilia on the table, and a gorgeous showstopper on the mantelpiece. We finished off the look with some candles and wooden details, which gave it a warm and cosy feeling during the evening. Mala our florist, really brought our vision to life!
We also wanted to add plenty of personal touches. We both enjoy being creative, so we decided to DIY our own wedding favours, and a ceremony booklet for the guests to take home. This gave our wedding a very personal feel.
The food was delicious and loved by everyone, from Canapés to dessert. We went with Salmon and Cod Fishcakes with Tartare Sauce and Rocket Salad as a starter, Confit of Duck Leg with Chorizo Cassoulet and Cavelo Nero for mains, and Hazelnut Financier with Banana Ice Cream and Candied Pecan as dessert.
We had a few guests with dietary requirements, and they were accommodated with ease and high praise for their food was received
We choose Sarah Louise Cakes to provide our cake, after hearing great reviews. After trying 5 different flavours, we went with a chocolate raspberry cake. She managed to perfectly recreate a picture we sent, and even added fresh fruit, which added a touch of colour. Everyone loved it!
