Dog Friendly Days Out in Hampshire

3rd May 2023

There is nothing better than getting away with your beloved dog and having a day’s activities to look forward to, but sometimes it can feel as though your options are limited – this is certainly not the case in Hampshire.
From our hotel you can access miles of forest trails and coastal paths with ease, as well as endless dog-friendly attractions, villages, pubs and cafes throughout Hampshire that will welcome you and your furry friend so your weekend break will run seamlessly from start to finish.

New Forest Walks with Your Dog

With more than 140 miles of tracks and footpaths in the New Forest you are spoiled for choice with places to walk, here are just a few we can recommend:

Beaulieu to Buckler’s Hard Walk

A 4-mile walk from right from our New Forest Hotel to the beautiful Buckler’s Hard where there are toilets, a café, and a dog friendly pub in case you need a rest and refreshment.

Wilverley Enclosure walk

A 2.5-mile walk from the Wilverley Enclosure Car Park, undulating through forest along a well-maintained gravel path. There is even a dog ‘Activity Trail’ (obstacle course) to try. Continue your walk outside of the enclosure on Wilverley Plain for a longer stroll over open parkland.

Lyndhurst Parish Walk

An 8.5-mile route starting from the centre of the village of Lyndhurst, it heads out to Bolton’s Bench, roughly following the parish boundary, covering open grassland, woodland trail and quiet forest road - dogs should be kept on a lead on road sections.

Dog-friendly beaches

During the busy seasons dog-friendly beaches can be tricky to find in the UK, but on a lovely sunny day there can be nothing more wonderful than a stroll next to the waves or cooling off in the water. There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches in Hampshire, just a short drive from our New Forest hotel.

Whether you hope to get out on the water, visit nearby attractions or find some local pubs to frequent, there are plenty of dog-friendly options to choose from. These are just a few ideas:

Take to the water with New Forest Activities

Hop into a stable canoe so they can safely sit and enjoy the ride whilst you paddle and see the sights.

Explore Hurst Castle

At Hurst Castle the only restriction is that dogs must be kept on a lead, so you can explore the whole castle and dogs will even ride for free if you catch the ferry from Keyhaven.

Our luxury dog-friendly accommodation

We welcome you and your well-behaved four-legged friends to enjoy our Hayloft Suites, lovingly converted from an 1820s barn into two spacious duplex suites, the Courtyard Retreats, and our Courtyard Suite and selected snug rooms in the main house.
We understand that being away can be disconcerting; breaking their usual routines, bombarding them with new spaces and smells, which is why you have plenty of room and privacy to feel relaxed and as comfortable as possible so you can all feel at home. We also make sure your furry friend feels welcome with its very own doggy hamper thoughtfully put together by Beco Pets, an environmentally conscious brand who create quality products with as little impact on the environment as possible.
