Lisa and Colin got married on Sunday 15th November 2015. This is their real weddings story...
Colin took me back to the restaurant where we had our first date - The Cliff in Canfor Cliffs, same time, same table. After the starters, he got down on one knee in front of the whole restaurant and asked me to marry him! I of course said yes!
Why did you choose The Montagu Arms Hotel for your wedding?
We had a voucher from the jewellers for lunch so we decided to go on the day we were looking at wedding venues. The minute we walked through the door we knew this was it! The room where we would get married and have our wedding breakfast was perfect, the food and service was perfect and the whole atmosphere of the place was just what we wanted, especially as it was a winter wedding Tell us about the Bride's outfit?: I wore a Phil Collins satin and lace full length, full skirted dress with a keyhole back, long train and a beautiful pearl and diamond tiara.
Tell us who your Bridesmaids were and what they wore?
Our bridesmaids were our daughters - Ellen aged 16 and Amelia aged 10. They each wore a dress made from light gold satin, Ellens was slinky and fitted with a little puddle train and Amelia's was three quarter length full skirted and so very grown up. Elements of my dress were on both of their dresses and we all matched our shoes so we had elements of each others shoes too!
Tell us about the ceremony
It was the most beautiful ceremony - very small and intimate with only 31 guests. The room was laid out exactly as we wanted. There were lots of happy tears, the ring box stuck momentarily in our best mans pocket and beautiful readings by the bridesmaids. It was perfect!
Tell us about your reception?
We went through to the lounge to have champagne and canapés, photos and to chat to our guests. Again everything was perfect, the staff blended into the background, there was never an empty glass and we felt really looked after.
What flowers did you choose?
I used Mala for all my flowers, which were stunning. Lots of ivory roses and romantic little flowers like blue eucalyptus and our bouquets were tied with little tiny pearls.
Tell us about the décor you chose
As it was a winter wedding, I wanted lots of candles, tealights and storm lanterns to make it very romantic. Everything was ivory and gold and it all looked so stunning in the hotel. We also had my grandparents silver candelabra and a wedding photo of my in-laws, all of whom sadly are no longer with us.
How do you feel the day went?
It was the most perfect day - and it was all thanks to the hotel staff, and in particular Clara. From the moment we booked to our actual day, nothing was too much trouble, everything we wanted was accommodated and the whole day was so perfectly run that we didn't have to think about anything. The food and service on the day was superb, glasses were filled as if by magic, our guests marvelled over such a wonderful wedding breakfast and we felt like we were the only people there - we would not change a thing about our day and now view the Montagu Arms as one of the most special places to us. We spent valentines evening there and we have already booked for our 1st wedding anniversary. It really was the most amazing day, and we will recommend the hotel to everyone we know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Any particular memories from your Wedding Story that stand out that you would like to share?:
Just how caring and attentive everyone on the day was. I will never forget arriving with full makeup and hair done (tiara on) to be greeted by Clara and taken up to the bridal suite to get dressed and seeing my dress hanging up with my shoes placed beside it. It really touched me how much effort everyone went to. I really cannot pick out one particular moment, it was all so wonderful and just exactly how we wanted it. You are all fabulous and you do a amazing job.
