Real Wedding - Katy and Will

Aug 2021

Katy and Will first planned to marry on a sunny beach in Peru but like thousands of couples, their original plans had to change due to the pandemic. Remembering a wonderful family day in Beaulieu, they chose The Montagu Arms to celebrate their special day. Sadly, all of Katy's family which had travelled from Spain were unable to be at the wedding in person. Someone on their flight had tested positive for Covid so they had to self-isolate. Although able to join virtually, the couple are now planning another celebration where they can all be together again.

Katy and Will met by chance on a night out in Central London. They spent the evening talking and discovered that Will knew how to cook a Peruvian dish that just happened to be Katy's favourite! Despite the initial chemistry they didn't exchange numbers. Later that same evening, whilst figuring out how to get back home to South West London, it was by pure coincidence that they met again. Will took Katy on a little sightseeing tour which turned out to be quite expensive in their black cab! Once Katy was dropped home safely, Will asked for her number. Their first date took place a few days later with Will cooking 'Lomo Saltado' and Katy making 'Pisco Sours' and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Will and Katy had been together for four years when they took a trip to Sicily and visited the Alcántara River. Famed for it's beautifully clear waters, unique ballast rock columns and rapids, it was there that Will popped the question and Katy accepted! They then celebrated by body rafting down the canyon!

Why Did You Choose The Montagu Arms For Your Intimate Wedding?

"I grew up in the New Forest and Katy and I developed a soft spot for Beaulieu whenever we came back to visit. We enjoyed some time with Katy's family at Palace House a few years ago and had a lovely lunchtime meal in the beautiful gardens of The Montagu Arms. We felt the atmosphere and location suited us perfectly. We both love gardens and water and the setting next to the river with the occasional donkey was idyllic."

The Flowers

"We have a garden that we love in London and grow a lot of colourful flowers that are at their best in early summer. We wanted to bring a little bit of our garden indoors on our wedding day and Jo Hicks did a wonderful job at selecting a really nice combination of colours and textures for the bouquet and room."

The Food

"We came for a menu tasting before the wedding and once we had tried the beef, we knew it was definitely the one for us - it was exquisite! The selection of wines was also great and we were really happy with how it was all served on the day."

The Photographer

"We wanted a photographer to capture the natural beauty and emotions of the day, not making us feel like we needed to pose uncomfortably or do things that wouldn't be natural. Lydia Stamps captured the day brilliantly and we always felt like we were enjoying our wedding rather than taking part in a photo shoot which was fantastic."

The Dress

"Katy bought her dress from Pronovias in Seville, where her Mum lives, with the intention of getting married on a sunny beach in Peru. Covid made Peru a bit trickier but luckily Pronovias sent the dress to London so she was able to use it in Beaulieu instead!"

The Suit

"I bought my suit from Suitsupply in London under the watchful eye of my future wife! Given our love for flowers we picked up all sorts of flowery ties for the groomsmen and family from Ted Baker and Liberty. On the day itself I forgot my shirt (my Mum had washed and ironed two - I forgot both). Luckily my brother brought two so I was saved some embarrassment! "

The Cake

"William's Mum loves baking and she is always bringing us cakes so it felt fitting that she should have the honour of preparing our Pistachio and Rosewater Victoria Sponge for the day. The cake was placed on a homemade cake board made using a locally sourced wood which was a gift from a friend of William's mum.
