Real Weddings | Paul and Vicky

Jan 2017

Paul and Vicky got married at the Montagu Arms Hotel on the 5th December 2015 and the cosy atmosphere of hotel, was the perfect venue for their winter wedding.

The Proposal

Paul proposed on the balcony of our hotel whilst having a Gin & Tonic after a day of kite surfing in the Red Sea!

Why did you choose The Montagu Arms Hotel for your wedding?

The Montagu Arms Hotel offers an intimate setting and outstanding food. It suited us because we wanted a small wedding but with high quality food and drink.

Tell us about the Bride's outfit?

I wore an elegant long dress. It had a light gold under layer with a thin lace top layer with beading on it. I decided not to have a vail but I had my hair curled and half up/half down, with a small silver clip in one side.

Tell us about the Groom's outfit?

Paul wore a dark blue suite with a turquoise tie

Tell us about the ceremony?

The reception was carried out by two lovely registrars who made it very personal. There were two readings read by the Groom's sister and the brides very close friend. The readings were light hearted and humorous. The exit tune for the Bride and Groom was "What shall we do with the drunken sailor" as they met sailing.

Tell us about your reception?

Amazing Hors D'oeuvres were provided after deciding to go with the Chef's choice. Everyone had a drink and chat in
the bar/lounge area whilst some photos were taken. The team at the Montague Arms did an amazing job in decorating the room for the Wedding Breakfast. The food was outstanding and the service was also excellent. We kept in plenty supply of wine.

What flowers did you choose?

White roses, lilies arranged in 3 large table decorations. White roses in the bouquet. Green reads looped into the bouquet.

Tell us about the décor you chose?

We chose turquoise reeds/sticks for our table decorations and some blue/white glass stones sprinkled onto the tables. For a nice touch we chose hurricane candle holders in different sizes decorated with sand and shells and cute tea light holders. We provided macaroons as favours in turquoise, gold and white and the table names were placed into little VW camper holders and each place name had a photo of the bride and groom kitesurfing in the background. The christmas tree was beautifully decorated so we worked with the Florist to ensure colour schemes would work with this. Used candle light plus dimmed lights for the ceremony and wedding breakfast which made it cosy considering it was a cold and wet December evening.

How do you feel the day went?

Amazing, it could not have asked for it to have been any better. The staff at the Montagu Arms Hotel were excellent
and I would recommend this venue to anyone who wishes to have an intimate wedding.

Any particular memories from your Wedding Story that stand out that you would like to share?

My "new" husband getting up to go and get collect gifts from the room (he had forgotten to bring them down) in the middle of my father (bride's father's) speech. This was very amusing!

The poem written by the Groom's 11 year old nephew titled "the strings of love." This was such a touching gift as well as an incredible poem written by someone so young. It certainly brought a tear to the eye.
