Real Weddings | Martin and Katie

Martin surprised me in our kitchen of our new home, with candles lit everywhere. It was very romantic and a complete surprise. To our friends amusement it was also Halloween - so we have had lots of jokes about this ever since.

Why did you choose The Montagu Arms Hotel for your wedding?

We fell in love with The Montagu Arms from our first visit. It was raining outside but inside, the fires were burning and the hotel felt so warm. We loved the feel of the hotel, the location was perfect and the fact that we had exclusive use of the hotel for the night of our wedding was a real plus as we had lots of friends and family travelling from a far.

It was a lace fish tail dress, with small cap sleeves and went with the romantic/vintage them of the wedding.

 

My bridesmaids were my sister Tara and my three best friends Gemma, Jo and Leah. They were beautiful flowing Mint dresses with lace tops from Coast.

The ceremony talk place in All Saints Church in Hordle. It was a wonderful, happy affair with the vicar Paul Taylor doing a great happy, fun service.

The Reception

 

Our reception was just perfect! It was a stunning October day, and everyone was able to be outside for the drinks reception, the kids played putting and we had live music in the garden! We had a wonderful three course wedding breakfast, followed by a great disco in the evening.

 

Emma Farrar did my flowers and I went with a vintage theme. A mix of coral roses, gyp in little jam jars on the table in the reception.

We had fairy lights hanging from the ceiling which worked really well and helped to create and even more romantic feel in the main room. We had lots of personal touches, handmade bunting by my bridesmaid Leah and the cake was made by our Aunty. The Mint and lace theme followed through with lots of personal signs throughout the venue.

The day was just amazing. We loved every single second. Clara the wedding co-ordinator and all the staff were fantastic. Everyone commented on the wonderful service and food! We loved every single second of our special day.

 

Any particular memories from your Wedding Story that stand out that you would like to share?

 

My bridesmaid Gemma played the saxophone - 'A Million Love Songs' it was a very special moment with everyone singing along. It was also wonderful to come back from photos and see everyone outside in the garden and my nephews Joshua and Harvey playing putting - a very special moment.
