Real Weddings | Adam and Joanne

Adam wanted to really surprise me, so chose a Monday night (when I was least expecting it). He got our two children to record a video of them and him asking me to marry him on our family iPad. When I walked through the door they said they had a video to show me!

We loved the feel of it the moment we walked through the doors. It was personal and intimate, yet classic and stunning. Clara, our wedding planner was attentive to all of our needs, without being overwhelming or pushy; she was absolutely brilliant from start to finish, as were all of the staff.

I chose an ivory, vintage lace wedding dress, with pearls sewn in. It had a sweetheart neckline and was figure hugging.

My flower girls were my daughter and my niece who wore beautiful ivory and pearl dresses. My bridesmaids were my two nieces, my two sister in laws and my best friend. They wore the colour aubergine, which really complimented the ivory and pearl theme. They wore chiffon dresses that looked stunning on all of them!

It was really intimate. We played our favourite music that I walked down the aisle to, arm in arm with my dad. We wrote our own, personal vows which choked me up a little when saying them. It was a beautiful day, the sun shone through the windows alongside the flickering candles and stunning floral bouquets that matched the colour scheme. Mala, the in- house florist arranged these for us and really did a fabulous job! Once we had signed the registrar we all entered the picturesque gardens for champagne and photographs. It was perfect!

Our reception was really fun- my best friend had made up a vintage sweet table, full of old fashioned sweets in jars, with scoops and bags to fill. Children and adults alike absolutely loved this. We hired a singer who had recently come over from Australia and he was great too. People danced inside and in the gardens, until 2am the next morning as the weather had been so lovely. We had bacon rolls, wedding cake and homemade macaroons to eat.

I chose to carry a calla lily as my dress and hair was so well groomed and detailed I wanted something simple, yet beautiful to walk down the aisle with. We had ivory and purple, fresh petals for the flower girls to scatter when they walked down the aisle ahead of me. The bridesmaids carried beautiful bouquets, full of roses and various sprays.

I chose a pearl and lace décor theme; to match the dress, so everything from the table decorations to the confetti cones were themed in lace and pearl.

Absolutely perfect! It was by far the best day of our lives and was enjoyed thoroughly by all involved.

My husband’s speech was the most beautiful I have ever heard. He really spoke from his heart and touched everyone in the room. I will never forget it and love him even more for his thoughtful words.
