Real Weddings - Mark & Faye

Mark and Faye's spring wedding took place at The Montagu Arms on 23rd April 2016 and here is their lovely real wedding story.

The Proposal

We were on holiday in Nerja in Spain and at the end of a meal in a beautiful restaurant celebrating Marks 50th birthday with our children. I had asked him what he wanted for his birthday and his reply was me, he then dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him, of course I said yes.  We bought the engagement ring the next day in Nerja, it was truly special.

Why did you choose The Montagu Arms Hotel for your wedding?

 We wanted a small venue with character for our intimate wedding, we are not local so didn’t know the hotel, and we visited several on that day but as soon we walked in we knew it was perfect and then we met Clara and we were certain.

The Bride’s outfit

 I wore an ivory lace and tuille Ronald Joyce dress, I absolutely loved it.

The Bridesmaids 

Our daughter Ruth was our bridesmaid and looked stunning in a full length purple one shoulder dress.  Our sons were our best men and gave very funny and very heartfelt speeches.

The ceremony 

There were lots of smiles and we made the registrar cry something she says she never does!! It was beautiful.

The reception 

The food was beautiful, just as it was when we did the tasting and with a gluten free bride, everything was gluten free!

The flowers  

With Malas’ expert guidance I had a simple but stunning bouquet of large white orichids, with matching button holes for the Grooms party, freesia corsages for our Mums and Ruth had a posy of freesia, with allium lily button holes for other guests.

The décor 

The colour purple ran throughout the décor.  I made handmade pictures to replace the pictures in the room with lots of colour and wooden hearts on the hair bows, handmade champagne heart shaped lollipops, personalised heart shaped wooden confetti and wild flower seeds and chocolates from the village as favours.

How do you feel the day went? 

The day was all we dreamed of.  Clara and the team made sure every detail was perfect including handing all guests a personal note from the bride and groom on check in.

Any particular memories from your Wedding Story that stand out that you would like to share? We just remember everyone smiling, it was a truly happy day, with all our guests staying in the hotel we drank and chatted in the bar until the early hours and had breakfast together the next day.  We also met a couple back for their 6th wedding anniversary, we look forward to seeing them next year as we have already booked for our first anniversary.
