Just 3.5 miles from our quaint hotel in Beaulieu is a haven for the green-fingered and a place of inspiration for any artist – take a walk with the Head Gardner, peruse local artworks, visit the steam railway or spend time picnicking in the glorious gardens. Exbury Gardens is a must-visit when you come to spend time in the New Forest and this year, they are celebrating a wonderful 100 years.
‘Look Twice’ Artists Exhibition - until 15th September
Peruse the works of local art group Look Twice, made up of 11 local artists, their pieces have been inspired by the sea, the forest and even Exbury Gardens itself, through a range of mediums, from oils, watercolours and acrylics to pastels, inks and graphite pencil.
Head Gardener’s Summer Walk & Talk – 1st August / 8th August
Take a stroll on an English summer evening with Exbury’ very own Head Gardener, Thomas Clarke. Discuss the changing seasons, receive advice for your summer planting and discover more about how the Exbury team maintain the beautiful 200-acre area all year round.
Wartime walks – 3rd August
A truly unique guided walk through Exbury Gardens; let author of ‘The Exbury Junkers: a World War II Mystery, John Stanley take you back in time to recount the true story of the Junkers Ju188 aircraft.
Less than half a mile from our Beaulieu hotel’s doorstep is the renowned National Motor Museum. Whether you are a motoring enthusiast or an admirer of architecture or a history-buff, you will enjoy wandering the beautiful grounds, visiting Beaulieu Abbey and stepping back in time at the great Palace House.
Simply Mercedes – 18th August
The National Motor Museum invites all Mercedes-Benz owners to showcase their vehicles on this day dedicated to the Mercedes, with a display of old, new and an array of models in between.
International Autojumble – 7th & 8th September
A grand day out, the International Autojumble is an award-winning event hosting more than 2000 stands displaying and selling vintage and classic motoring memorabilia.
Following in grandad’s flight path – 21st September
An evening lecture and the story of a Grandson’s impressive tribute to his Grandfather. Bunnie, a pilot with No. 2 Wing RNAS during 1915 – 1916, flew a 1915 Bristol Scout in World War I and his Grandson, David Bremner, set out to follow in his flight path exactly 100 years later.
Ivan Dutton: A life of motoring passion and achievement – 19th October
Enjoy a lecture on the life and career of Ivan Dutton, the motor car racer and businessman and sure to be an insightful, enjoyable evening for all admirers of Bugatti, restoration or vintage motoring.
