Having originally trained as a metalworker he then become a chef and worked in all aspects of the industry. The reason for changing career? Well, Robbie loves food and the fun environment of the kitchen.  Robbie’s career as enabled him to work all over Europe including Corsica, Menorca, Ireland and The Alps.

Robbie joined The Montagu Arms Hotel as a Pastry Chef before becoming Head Chef at Monty’s Inn. His career highlights include being part of the team when The Terrace won its Michelin Star in 2009 and being promoted to Head Chef at Monty’s Inn.

Robbie has a real passion for Monty’s Inn, making it a great place for locals and visitors of the area. His desire to produce delicious and traditional pub food is evident in his menu which comprises of all the favourites such as homemade scotch eggs, burgers and pies. The emphasis on ‘traditional pub food’ is defined by the fact that the dishes almost form themselves. Thanks to local suppliers such as John and Catriona Kennard at Exbury Gardens who are so close to the Inn, vegetables are delivered within ten minutes of them coming out of the ground – it’s an inspiration and the source of much of Robbie’s creativity.

So what does Robbie recommend you do during your stay at The Montagu Arms Hotel?

Try the scallops and Oxtail Lasagne at The Terrace Restaurant – it’s delicious!
Book a table at Monty’s and order the scotch egg, it’s my favourite dish.
Visit Lepe Beach near Beaulieu during your stay, it provides perfect views of the Isle of Wight.
When he’s not cooking up something delicious at Monty’s, Robbie enjoys spending time with his family, going for walks in the forest, swimming and playing football.
