Raise a glass to International Beer Day at Monty's Inn

Beer lovers around the world will gather in pubs, back gardens, breweries and bars to celebrate the glories of their favourite tipple on International Beer Day on the 5th August 2022.

We've teamed up with the Piddle Brewery to create our own Montagu beer and lager, the perfect accompaniment to the pub’s menu of delicious home-cooked English favourites. We chose to pair with Piddle Brewery after meeting the owner, whose infectious enthusiasm and knowledge of his product enticed us into wanting to create a partnership. We wanted a product created with the knowledge that every bottle we sell is made with the same care and attention we pride ourselves on. The beers were chosen to complement what we do best – using top quality ingredients to create delicious English classics.

Montagu beer is superbly balanced and complex in flavour. A chestnut brown best bitter, it’s malty and fruity with just a hint of caramel, and is perfect paired with the pub’s Hampshire reared 8oz Ribeye steak.

The Montagu lager is slightly sparkling and perfect served chilled on a warm summer’s day. Guests can buy a bottle to take away or enjoy with the pub’s fish and chips on a Friday night, after a walk on the banks of the Beaulieu River.

Making the most of Hampshires abunant larder the menu features dishes such as Scotch Egg with pickled walnut puree, baby watercress using free range eggs from Romsey based egg producer Claytons,  a selection of three Hampshire cheeses with Neal's Yard Crackers, House Chutney and Truffle Chutney and Eton Mess with New Forest Strawberries and Chantilly Cream.
