A British icon - 1959 MGA Roadster 1500

24th Apr 2019

A British icon

You cannot talk about Classic British cars without mentioning the MG. It has to be one of the most popular British classic cars ever made. The iconic marque was founded in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, in 1924 by Cecil Kimber and the first car to be manufactured was the MG 14/28, within the same year.

31 years later, MG revealed the all new MGA at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which many argue is the best-looking model of them all. The MGA Roadster replaced the T-Series in 1955 with completely new, more streamlined, sleek look, and an unforgettably agile and lively drive, and a smooth gearchange – a pleasure to drive.

MG went on manufacturing the first MGA 1500 model until 1959, until in 1960 the British Motor Corporation stopped producing it. The love for the MGA Roadster did not cease there. With many classic car enthusiasts taking to lovingly restoring this iconic British car today, car clubs have been set up in its honour and parts are easily available, making it an ultimate car to buy, whether you love to rebuild or simply tinker.
