The History

The Montagu Arms Hotel has in its 200 year history played host to discerning clientele who appreciate its world class service and hospitality. Set within the heart of the enchanting New Forest the Montagu Arms provides an idyllic retreat for guests.
Beaulieu has had a number of inns and ale houses in its history and there has been an inn on the site of Montagu arms since the 16th century, called successively The Ship, The George and since 1742 Montagu Arms. Originally a meeting place for farmers and parish officers the inn was very much the heart of the picturesque Beaulieu village. The inn was a hub for timber auctions and lecture, with its own farmland a cattle market was held at the inn as well as weekly markets.
The original building front was demolished in 1887, with the new building incorporating Monty’s inn being completed in 1888. In 1925 a new north-east wing was added to form the hotel as we know it today. This wing was built using bricks and tiles half a century old. The Brasserie has often changed its name over the years, with its most recent change in 1998. It is now known as Monty’s Inn, by which it has been affectionately called by locals for years.
Here at Monty’s inn we are very proud of the food and drink we serve. This is why we choose carefully where of our ingredients are sourced. We grow our own fruit and vegetables in our kitchen garden. We use many local suppliers such as Pork from Pondhead farm in Lyndhurst, Real Ales from Ringwood brewery, beef from Alderstone Farm near Romsey, eggs from our own chickens and apples from The Pennington orchard.

Served from 12.00pm to 2.30pm Monday to Friday and 12.00pm to 3.00pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Dinner is served from 6.30pm to 9.30pm every day.

Pub opens from 11.00am to 11.00pm Monday to Sunday
