Food & Green Policy
Ethical food policy
“We believe it is important to know where our produce comes from. This is a way to get to know the community, meet our suppliers and enrich our understanding of local produce.” – James Hiley-Jones, Area General Manager; The Montagu Arms Hotel
For over 10 years The Montagu Arms Hotel has been committed to using local and free-range produce as far as possible.
Many of our suppliers carry the New Forest Marque, this symbol identifies produce which originates from the New Forest. In order to qualify for this badge of honour, producers have to make sure that their goods meet stringent standards relevant to their own particular speciality. Meat producers, for example, must show that high standards of animal welfare and good husbandry have been applied at all times.
Local suppliers that we use include: Owls Barn Farm for meat, Lyburn Farm for cheese, Clayton Eggs, Merry Orchard Mushrooms and the Eling Tide Mill for Flour.
