Traditional Afternoon Tea
The unique charm of the 17th Century country house hotel lives up to its welcoming heritage as a former coaching in.
Guests will enjoy an unforgettable afternoon tea experience in quintessential English surroundings as tea is taken in the Victorian styled Magnolia Lounge with cosy log fires or in the conservatory overlooking the manicured gardens.
Under the direction of Michelin Star chef Matthew Tomkinson, the hotel’s passionate pastry chef will present an afternoon tea reminiscent of the rituals of its 1840’s origins, but with a twist. Tea at The Montagu Arms offers a unique ‘course by course’ tasting journey starting with a savoury selection of delicate finger sandwiches, warm served fresh oven baked homemade scones, before arriving at an array of sweet treats. The journey is enhanced further by a constantly refreshed selection of finest loose leaf teas from around the world.
The prestigious Tea Guild awarded The Montagu Arms winner of the Top Country House Hotel Tea for 2013/14, making it the best venue outside of London to enjoy afternoon tea.
